Teen Halloween Party Ideas:

Some tips for planning your party

You will want to start planning your party by the first of September. What you do at your party will depend on your age, and the age of your guests. Obviously, a 14 year old will have a party different from that of a 17 year old. First figure out where you will have the party. Your house? The school gym? Get permission before going any further. Now decide how many people you are going to invite? You will need to know how many in order to plan the menu and stuff. You need to know who you want to invite, as well as who will be helping you the night of your party in order to send out invitations and whatnot.

Invitations:

These should be sent out about three or four weeks before your party. The sooner the better, before everyone makes all of their plans for October. Write for an RSVP for about two weeks before the party, so you will know how many people to expect. You should also know by this time who will be helping, and in what way they will be contributing to the party.

If you are the artistic type, then you can design your own invitations. If not, then you can get free printable graphics online. Just remember to give credit where it is due. There are links to graphics websites at the bottom of all pages on this website. Make sure that you leave room on your invitation for:

where

date

time

your name

RSVP number and name

*** Please do not take the graphics from my website, you can get them through the links at the bottom my pages. When you go to those sites, read how you are supposed to save the image. This is very important. Graphics must be saved to your computer before you can use them.

Decorations:

Oriental Trading Co. has some great 3-D monster face pictures that are sort of on the scary side. Not at all childish. Their catalog is free, and you can even see it online.

Decorations should get scarier as you get older.

You could have a graveyard outside.

* TIP: Have someone posted outside your door before people start to arive for your party. This person should be dressed like a very scary or gross, real looking character. He should look like a decoration though, so people think that he is not real. He will have to be able to hold very still, even his eyes can't move. As people come up to him, on their way inside, he should jump up real fast, with no warning, and growl or make some other loud noise to scare the people.

Get real looking spider webs, with real looking spiders.

You can also find rats and bats that look real.

If you have a fog machine, that would be a great addition to your party.

You  should also be able to find glow-in-the-dark eyes somewhere. These can go outside on trees or the front of the garage, providing that they will come off easily.

Look around and see what else you can find for decorations.

The gypsy corner:

If someone wants to be the gypsy, they will need a round table (just big enough for two), two old chairs, and a dark blue tablecloth, length of fabric or sheet. You may also want a crystal ball. If not, palm reading will do just fine. Set this up in a corner of the room. You may want to hang a curtain of beads on the two walls behind the table. No need to do the entire wall, just the gypsy area.

Witches Hearth:

Someone dresses up as a witch, scary or not. A real witch is not scary looking, and she is not an old hag. But I believe that it is fun to dress up, so scary old hag is fine with me. She (or he) will need a broom and a cauldron. If you can find a holder (three poles connected some how at the top) to hold the cauldron, that would be great (If not, then just put it down on the wood). The cauldron is hung from the top, wood is put under it on the floor. Glow sticks or something like that can be placed among the wood to make it look like fire. A stick for stirring is also needed.

The cauldron could be one of those plastic Trick-or-Treat ones. Fill it one-third full with something slimey, that will feel wierd when someone puts their hand on it.

An old stand or cabinet can hold jars. Recycled jars with lids are fine. Wash them out, and take the labels off. Find recipes on the web for things like bat wings, eye of newt, etc. This stand or cabinet could also hold a mortar and pestle, a real looking spider, and a real (or eal looking) black cat.

Maybe the witch could learn the words to Double, Double, Toil and Trouble. (Shakespeare?)

A Good ending:

You may want to end the evening with a scary movie and some popcorn!

*** How many different names can you find for Halloween? Halloween, Samhain, All Hallows Eve. . .

If you have any ideas for Halloween parties, please leave post them in the right place in the forum, and let me know if it is all right to post them on this page with your name. Thank you. http://pub12.bravenet.com/forum/971696293

Costumes for a Frightful Halloween

 the walking dead

the grim reaper/death

the killer from your favorite horror movie

a werewolf: If you do this right, it can be very scary.

a vampyre: If you are good with make-up, try dressing up like a vampyre from the movie Salems Lot. They are scary.

a witch: Real witches do not wear pointy hats and capes, their faces are not green, they are not old hags. You could dress up like that though, if you liked. Instead of a cape and a hat, though, try to find a pattern for a robe with a hood online. A green face, messy black hair, a wart, and long black nails will also add to the eeriness of the party.

a witchyre: You guessed it! a witchy vampyre.

The Scarefest Ball and Haunted House: (contributed by Skye and Zowie)

Here is something that I wan to do for a Halloween party with my friends.
I want to rent a big place, like the town hall. I wan to  make it in to a scare fest, and have everyone dress up in what ever they want to dress up in. We can dance the night away! There should also be a Haunted House.

A Haunted Yard:

You could have different stations -

a graveyard

 Draculas cave

A Haunted Lane:

This one would be great if you have a long driveway, especially with trees on either side. Don't forget to have people dress up in scary costumes and jump out at people.
